Every number here carries a source and a date
This is where each of them ends up. A row is built from what the site states; a field it has never stated is left blank rather than filled in.

Pedestrian Counting System
The figures on this site are our analysis of the published counts, not the council's. Each sensor's day is normalised to its own daily total, so the two curves compare the shape of a footpath's day rather than how busy it is, and both share one y-scale. The window starts after the Metro Tunnel's full timetable switch on 1 February and ends before April's free-fare month.

The Old Melbourne Cemetery under the Queen Victoria Market
The total is a range rather than a figure. The cemetery's records burned with the gatehouse, so nobody knows exactly who was exhumed and who is still there.

Half-price public transport fares
The daily cap is the one announced for that period. It is a policy with an end date, not a standing fare.

Global Liveability Index 2026
The index contains no measure of affordability of any kind: no housing cost, no rent, no cost of living. Infrastructure includes only availability of good-quality housing. The scores published free are whole numbers; the decimals that separate cities level on the published score sit inside a paid report, so this site prints no decimal.

Time Out
Best Cities in the World 2026
A survey of residents rather than an analyst rating — more than 24,000 people in 42 languages. It answers a different question from the EIU index and the two are not comparable.
